What is Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) Additional Coverage?

The optional rider Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) Additional Coverage provides a maximum coverage of up to HK$25,000  for cats aged 1-11 years that have not previously been diagnosed with FIP. This additional coverage allows you to claim 70% of the costs for the prescription medication GS-441524. Since FIP is an excluded condition under the policy, this additional coverage does not include other medical expenses (such as consultation fees, laboratory tests, and hospitalization), and claims can only be made once in a lifetime. For more details, please refer to policy documents.

Is there a deadline for filing pet insurance claims?

You must submit a claim within 30 days after your pet's veterinary visit. For inpatient claims, the discharge date will be treated as the visit date. To avoid missing the deadline, we recommend submitting your claim as soon as possible after each visit. Unfortunately, we are unable to process any claims submitted after the 30-day period. If your pet has been hospitalized for more than 30 days and has not yet been discharged, you may coordinate with the veterinary clinic to settle part of the medical expenses first. Please submit the paid receipt(s) along with all required claim information (e.g. Diagnosis and Date symptoms appeared, etc.). We will process that portion of your claim accordingly.

Can I enroll my pet if he/she has a diagnosed medical condition?

Regardless of whether your pet has had any prior illnesses, as a pet owner, you can insure your pet aged between 13 weeks and 11 years. During the insurance application process, we require you to disclose your pet’s medical history. Such medical history will not affect the underwriting process, yet it will be recorded as part of the insurance application. Claims decisions will be made based on the policy coverage and relevant terms. Please note that any misrepresentation, wrong description, or failure to disclose information may affect the validity of the policy. “Pre-existing Medical Conditions” If your pet is diagnosed with an illness or experiences health issues before the policy takes effect or during the waiting period, and such conditions are classified as pre-existing conditions as outlined in the policy terms, the pet owner will not be able to claim medical expenses arising from these conditions. For more details, please refer to the Policy Wording terms. "Accidents and illnesses occurring during the waiting period" Additionally, any accidents or illnesses that occur before the end of the policy's waiting period are not covered. After the waiting period, the policy will cover medical expenses incurred from covered accidents or illnesses. Therefore, we recommend pet owners to insure their pets as early as possible, ensuring more comprehensive health coverage for your furry friend.

If a pet is diagnosed with a chronic illness during the policy year and the coverage plan is upgraded at renewal, will the upgraded coverage continue to apply to that chronic illness after the renewal?

We will send you a renewal notice 30 days before your policy end date. After receiving the renewal notice, you can log in to [My Account] to upgrade your plan. Please note that the upgrade does not apply to pets aged 12 years or older. If your pet has shown symptoms, been diagnosed, received medication, or undergone medical advice or treatment for a chronic condition before the upgrade plan, that chronic condition will be considered a pre-existing condition, and additional coverage for it will not apply under the upgraded plan. If your pet is 5 years old or older at the time of the upgrade, and unfortunately develops a new chronic condition after the waiting period, the upgraded plan will cover this condition during the first policy year after the upgrade. However, in subsequent renewal years, coverage for that chronic condition will revert to the original terms and conditions of the non-upgraded plan, and the original coverage amount will remain unaffected. Please refer to the Policy Documents for detailed information on the coverage provided under the upgraded plan. *For the list of Chronic Medical Conditions, please refer to the Policy Wording.

Do I need pet insurance if my kitty is an indoor cat?

Your kitty might be safer indoors, but they can still get injured at home. Being indoors also doesn’t protect them from health problems, meaning they have their own share of illnesses too. With four plans available, Pet CEO Plan® allows flexibility so that pet owner can choose a policy that best fits their needs. Our plans cover the big expenses, such as surgery and hospitalization, as well as smaller ones like vet consultations. Visit the product page for details and a quote. Currently, pet owner can add an optional rider to provide additional coverage for Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) for their cats, with a maximum additional coverage amount of HK$25,000, covering 70% of the costs for the prescription medication GS-441524. This supplemental coverage is available for cats aged 1 to 11 years and can be claimed only once in a lifetime. For more details, please refer to the policy terms.
