Hong Kong, May 12, 2025 – Virtual insurance company OneDegree hosted Hong Kong’s first large-scale interactive celebration themed promoting lifelong pet commitment, the “OneDegree x Hello Kitty Pet friendly Carnival,” at Kai Tak AIRSIDE from May 8 to 11. The four-day event drew over 10,000 attendees and thousands of pets, with Hello Kitty herself presiding over the highlight ceremony, the “Lifetime Pledge,” where pet owners and their furry companions made hand-and-paw prints to symbolize a lifelong commitment to care. The event aimed to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership and promote lifelong care without abandonment.

Beloved by adults and children alike, Hello Kitty partnered with an virtual insurance company, OneDegree, for the first time to champion the “Lifelong commitment” theme, encouraging pet owners to pledge lifelong care. The event saw long queues at interactive game stalls and photo booths, reflecting strong community support. Hello Kitty appeared on stage over two days, leading the “Lifetime Pledge” ceremony alongside emcee Ah Jeng from Radio 903 and OneDegree’s Deputy CE Emily Chow. Hundreds of pet owners and their pets participated, leaving hand-and-paw prints on the pledge certificate to seal their commitment.

Over 10,000 Attendee in Four Days, Promoting Lifetime Commitment

The carnival featured four themed zones—adoption, bonding, interactive games, and memory making—illustrating the journey of a responsible pet owner. The “Lifetime Pledge” ceremony, officiated by Hello Kitty, saw pet owners and their pets make their lifelong commitment.

An adoption zone showcased profiles of adoptable pets and facilitated interactions, matching pets with caring families and promoting adoption over purchasing.

OneDegree’s “Pawbook” App Tops Charts Marking its 5th anniversary, OneDegree launched the “Pawbook” mobile app and OneDegree Pet Mart, laying the foundation for future growth. During the 4-day carnival, app downloads exceeded 3,000 securing the top spot in the App Store’s “Health & Fitness” category. “The enthusiastic response to our app is incredibly encouraging,” said Chow.

Five Years of Remarkable Growth, Targeting Full-Year Profit in 2025

Celebrating five years, OneDegree has achieved a 131% compound annual revenue growth rate. In October 2024, it became the first and only one of Hong Kong’s four virtual insurers to report a profitable third quarter, with full-year revenue exceeding HKD 240 million—a 27-fold increase since 2020. Pet insurance has been a key driver, growing 24 times since 2020 with a 124% compound annual growth rate. OneDegree’s Pet CEO Plan, launched in 2020, offers Hong Kong’s highest annual coverage of HKD 100,000 and introduced the market’s first critical illness cash benefit for conditions like epilepsy and patellar luxation.

This year, OneDegree’s commitment to responsible pet ownership resonated strongly, with an 83% year-on-year increase in pet insurance sales at the Hong Kong Pet Expo, breaking previous records. Looking ahead, OneDegree aims to achieve full-year profitability in 2025, continuing to lead the industry in innovation and community impact.
